Labor Story

At first this was copied and pasted from a mommy site. But I updated it Aug 1, 2010 so it's easier to read through and makes more sense. :) and I added pictures

41 week belly right before we left for the hospital
Now that I have a few minutes while she's sleeping Labor Story We got to L&D on friday night at 830 to be induced.Got put into the room, changed, nurse came in put on the bp cuff did vitals, started my iv line...where she tried first made no sense to me, my wrist right under my thumb on the wrist bone, It hurt so bad and wasn't even in a vein, no blood came out, nothing. She then tried my hand which she should have tried first! While she was doing that she left the other iv that was killing me in my wrist. At about 9 she came back in and put the first cytotec capsule in. I was at 1 cm and pretty thick at that point. Jason and I then started watching movies and waiting.

My next dose was at 1 am. She put it in, I was still at a 1 but much more thinned out. I continued to watch movies not feeling any different. At about 3 she came in to fix the monitors because Emorys heartrate was getting lost and I was showing that I was having contractions. I wasn't feeling them at all though. At about 4 I started to feel them. Jason was sleeping and I woke him up because time was going by so slow and I was uncomfortable from the contractions... they were more annoying than anything and I was only feeling them in my lower region.

5 am its time for the my next dose but I didn't get it because the nurse checked me and says I'm at a 6. Whoo hoo I think and she orders my epidural for the pain, which wasnt bad at that point. Epidural man comes in and it gets put in at about 530. It sent weird shooting pains down my right leg and then made me shake like I was freezing cold, weirdest feeling ever. The nurse then puts in the cathetar and checks again and says "oops you're only at a 2 I must have felt under cervix, sorry" freaking fantastic! I am now pinned to this bed until I have this baby. The epidural made my left leg feel like it weighed 500lbs and my right leg was tingly like when get up and your leg is first asleep. I tried to sleep and couldn't at all. My feet would feel so itchy and I couldn't do anything about it. I would be uncomfortable on one side and want to roll over...impossible.Pitocin started right after the epidural was put in.

The new nurse came in at about 930 because I had Jason move the pillow that was supposed to be under my legs from under my butt and we realized my water had broken(I had weird popping sounds at around 730 but never felt a gush or anything) He took the pillow out to the nurses desk...My water had thick meconium in it.She then checked me and I was at a 4. She came back in at 11 because I was in so much pain. My nether regions felt like they were going to shoot across the room. That was the only place i felt contractions the entire time. I was at a 4+. Very frustrating. I pushed my epidural button to get another dose and it didn't work. I was screaming in pain, trying to breathe through the pain. She then ordered more epi. He (a different guy than the one that started it) came in to put more in and said it wasn't working well because I was laying down on the cord. They laid me flat and my back felt like it was going to snap in half and it was hard to breathe. I told them this over and over until they sat me straight up and gave me some oxygen. It was like magic.I finally got to sleep. I slept from about1130 to2ish.
haha

this was after my nap during a contraction

I finally got to meet the dr that was going to deliver Em at 215 when he came to check me, I was at a 7, he said probably 2 or 3 more hours til push time. He kept checking me while I was having a contraction to see what they were doing..Boy was that painful! He then left and they said they'd be back in an hour to check me again. Nobody came back an hour later. Jason went to get the nurse at  about 345 because I felt i needed to be checked. She said she'd call me a 7 still but the dr would call me probably call me an 8. I was in pain and she went to order more epi meds because again the button wasn't quite cutting it. 10 minutes later I felt the urge to push only because I thought it would make the crotch shooting across the room pain better. I told Jason "I feel like I need to push" He just stood there. I told him GO TELL THEM NOW! He ran out of the room and came back with the nurse. She checked me and said OH you're rimming she then said that I could either start pushing or she could get the epidural but I would push longer. I said I just want this done lets push. At 4 o clock I started pushing. About 2 or 3 contractions into it she could see that she was coming down fast and showed Jason. She then left the room and said to push when I felt the need and she'd be back. She was getting everything ready since nothing was ready for delivery and  she needed to call the dr.

They had to get the nursery nurses for the meconium, get all the delivery stuff. Jason had to help me push through me contractions hold both my feet up from one side of the bed. we did this for what felt like eternity but was probably 10 minutes. We paged the nurse and said we wanted someone in there. She came back to help push for a couple more minutes then said that if I needed to push to just let my legs go limp and push. I tried that and didnt feel right. Jason grabbed my legs and helped push again...he then saw her head nearly crown, Nurses started coming in, dr still wasn't there and they were making me breathe through my contractions...hardest thing ever to do! I would breathe some and then push but my legs were down,my body was moving her down and out on its own pretty much. Finally at about 445 the dr gets there. He was at the other hospital thats about 30 min away...nobody knew where he was until he got there. He gets ready and I am allowed to push the right way at about 450. she crowned and he said he would cut me to make it easier or I could just push through i didn't have a chance to answer I pushed, tore and out came her head. Then her shoulders and Bam she was born at 5:01 pm, 7lbs 3 oz, 18 1/2 inches long.. She screamed immediately which was a good sign I guess even with the meconium. They took her over to clean her and suction her really really well and the dr finished his thing.

Jason was all teary eyed and I was slightly weeping but so relieved to not be in pain anymore. Jason had watched the entire birth even the delivery of the placenta and the dr stitching me up.Im surprised he watched it all since blood makes him really really queasy. He was shocked at how much my stomach went down once she was out.

We got to hold her finally at about 515 we were told we were gonna have her for about a half hour but the nurse came back at 530 and said that she had to take her because the nursery wanted her then to check on her. So off went my squishy baby.I didn't get to see her again until about 9.

While she was in the nursery I was allowed to order my first meal since 6 pm the night before. Finally FOOD! We made calls to everyone to announce that she was here. My dad was at the hospital already when I called him so he came up to my room and we got to chat for a bit. I was in the delivery suite until about 8. While the nurses cleaned up and and I got changed into a new gown, Jason and my dad went over to the nursery to look at Emory. I then got to go to my mom and baby room where I'd spend the next few days. Breanne came down to the hospital after she got off work and got to see Emory when they brought her to me.

We then spent 3 more nights in the hospital. the usual 2 after delivery and one extra as just rooming in.
Saturday night at about 1130 I got really hot and sweaty and was feeling nauseous. I sent Jason to fill my mug with ice and water and let the nurse know that I wasnt' feeling good, The hot flashes are normal since hormones are trying to even out but being nauseous isn't normal. The dr had ordered me some anti nausea meds though so she went to get the shot of it. It was time to nurse Emory again but I was feeling so sick I told them they could take her to the nursery and give her a bottle. Jason agreed so we could get some sleep.

They had her all night until about 830 sunday morning. She wouldnt nurse for more than 5 or 10 minutes all day sunday they were really concerned about her blood sugar. The lactation consult wasn't much of a help when she came in. All Emory wanted to do was sleep. She made up for it that night and was awake all night long! She would nurse for nearly an hour at a time.

At 630 monday morning the nurse came in to see if it was okay if they took her to the nursery to get seen by the peditrician. I said yes of course because I haven't slept all night long. My dr came in at about 830 to check on me. He wasn't the one that delivered because he was out of town but was back and wanted to see how things were. His visit was very short since I didn't have any questions and he wants to see me in 6 weeks. Then the peditrician came in and told me they found a heart murmer, and that they are very common. Also that her biliruben levels were up so they wanted me to go in the next day for have her heart checked again and have her bili levels checked to see if the jaundice level was going down. She had also ordered a chest xray. This was the first of many tests all day long! She had an ekg, a test to see how her heart pumps the blood to her extremities which came back sluggish, We didnt have her much of the day at all. They started giving her a bottle while they had her in the nursery at about 10 am...The only reason it was stopped was because the baby photographer came in to take her picture and Jason asked if she could make sure she wasn't being given a bottle. They brought her back in a little after that. She wouldn't nurse. All she wanted to do was sleep. She slept most of the day again, I also couldn't nurse her because they had her. at about 430 pm she finally got a 45 minute feeding in. They were worried about her blood sugar once again. They informed us then that they were going to keep her overnight to monitor her heart and that we had an appt with the cardiologist at Primary Children the next morning for a 3d echosonogram. I was then discharged but not allowed to stay in that room because Labor and delivery was full and they needed rooms to move people to after they were done delivering.

So we moved rooms to a room that next to the construction going on at the hospital so they dont put anyone in that room. The bed we coudln't have plugged in because an alarm would go off on it saying it wasn't down, So it had to be left flat, there was no fold down chair so Jason had to sleep on the floor. The room was weird. It didn't feel welcoming at all but we had to stay at the hospital because I had to go into the nursery every 3 hours to feed her. It was a long but fast night since she would eat for like 45 min to an hour. Leaving us an hour to sleep before we had to get back there. We left there this morning at about 930..we were supposed to leave at 9 but the peditrician was talking to us and making sure everything was good before we left. It was finally good to hear something from a dr because the day before we'd heard everything from nurses and they couldn't say for sure what was going on since they aren't drs. We were then off to primary childrens for our appt. We get there and the dr listens to her and says he doesn't see a need for the sonogram because the murmer is so tiny. Its probably a little hole in the muscle between the ventricles and will close on its own. He had the other dr check her out as well and neither one of them saw a need for it. We have a follow up in a month or 2 to see how its going. And then we finally got bring her home!

Its so nice to be home at last. The cat doesn't quite know what to think of her and keeps trying to get into the bassinet but the more he explores the more he doesn't care and will just do his own thing.

40 weeks 4 days

4 days overdue.. ARG.
My dr is out of town for the week so I had to see a different dr today and boy did I hate him.
He was so quick and didn't seem to care about my well being at all. His nurse is weird and asks if it burns when I urinate...um no, never. I would tell you if it did. My nurse always just asks if the baby's moving, if I've had any bleeding, or contractions. I prefer those questions. She checked my bp. 120/80 Lowest its been in weeks. Anyway the dr came in measured my belly 38 cm.. I think thats do to her finally being locked and loaded, he checked her heartbeat really fast, it was at 140 which is good. Then he checked my cervix. One centimeter dilated...freaking finally. Ive been checked at 36 weeks..nothing...37 weeks...nothing...38 weeks I didnt feel good so I didn't get checked...39 weeks...nothing. then today 40 weeks. bam 1 cm. Finally some progress. I've been kinda crampy...gas type cramps all day so I figured something had changed. She is also much lower today than yesterday. Immediately after he checked me he asked if I wanted to be induced. I responded with not really. (I dont want my body pumped with artificial hormones, my dr said the body's made to do this let it figure itself out...he said this last week) Anyway he went on with how bad things can start happening after 41 weeks and he wouldn't suggest staying pregnant over the weekend. I had an appt with my dr set for monday the 17th. I failed to mention this to the jerky dr who was forcing induction on me. My dr seemed perfectly fine with letting me go over and talking about what we can do on monday when hes back. I feel like I was forced into being induced. My induction is set for Friday night at 830 pm. They will start with the thinning/dilating meds...not sure if they will use cervadil or cytotec(i think thats what its called) or something else. those are the only 2 I know of. Then Saturday morning they will start with pitocin if needed. I really dont want pitocin. I really didn't want to be induced! I have 3 more days to get labor going on my own. There is a storm at the moment maybe the barometric pressure will do something, theres a full moon on thursday night maybe that will do something. I plan on doing a ton of walking the next couple days that should help as well.

I really wanted my dr to deliver the baby..ive been going to him for 9 months and completely comfortable with him. The dr that will be there for the induction is a different one than I saw today and hopefully hes not as jerky. I feel like the girl on "Knocked Up" when she goes into labor and her dr isn't there for the delivery LOL. I wanna freak out. If I make it to saturday I will have then met every dr in the office. Whoo great for me..Not I want my dr!!!!

The more I sit and ponder this induction business the more emotional I get. I was pretty okay with it when we left the office and now that Im home alone I want nothing to do with it and I want to cry. UGH..why is it this week that my dr has to be out of town.

nearly 2 months later

I figured it was time for an update since its been almost 2 months without one.

Things have been going fairly well and smooth. I was finally able to get into physical therapy in the middle of August and found out why my back pain was so bad. My pelvis rotates super easily and then that strains my lower back and makes one of my legs extremely shorter than the other. I was going twice a week from then until last thursday when I went in with no pain and she said to let it go a couple weeks and we'll see how I do but if I'm in any pain to come back. I didn't know that the physical therapy would help my back pain so much! It was a godsend.

I got in a car accident on 9/11 leaving physical therapy. I got tboned right in the drivers side door pulling out of the parking lot of the hospital. After 2 weeks we finally found out that there were no citations to either party but it was my fault according to my insurance since I was crossing traffic. My car is totaled so we are now down to one car and its a pain but we're dealing. The police report doesn't have my full statement on it or speeds that the cars were going which I think should be in it. Anyway I hit my head on the seatbelt topper thing and had a nice goose-egg on my head and had lovely whiplash. i was pulled out of the car through the passenger side and put on a backboard and driven right back into the hospital in an ambulance. My first ambulance ride and it was only a minute long. LOL. I was cleared in the ER. They looked for the baby's heartbeat and the nurse said an average of 128-130 and was worried it was too low but the dr said its normal for a girl. PHEW! Jason finally got there after what felt like an eternity. I was then taken up to Labor and Delivery to have the baby monitored. I got monitored until 830 since the first 4 hours after the accident are when most things can go wrong and they were most worried about placenta abruption and thats what the critical 4 hours was for. Emory was great on the monitors but had moved from when they put it on so it couldn't find her heartbeat and kept going off, I called the nurse and nobody came to fix it. It was rather annoying and I had to hold it on my belly til it found her steady heartbeat. When the nurse came back in at 8 to see how I was doing I had to use the bathroom so she unhooked me and when I came back she found the baby again and then the monitor didn't go off again. I had a delicious hospital food dinner which was actually really good :D MMM. Jason ordered it for me adn he ordered something extra that I didn't tell him to and the "lunch lady" was really grumpy telling him food was only for patients and he said yes I know it is for her. It came and I thought he had really ordered the other sandwich for himself but I hate them both since I hadn't eaten in 7 hours he knew I would be starving and ordered the extra for me. LOL he knows me all too well.

I've become increasingly more tired and worn out the past few weeks. I dont sleep well at night. I sleep about an hour or 2 at a time and then am up for about an hour and repeat...its so frustrating when all I want to do is sleep at normal human hours of the night and not all day. We have less than 6 weeks left til my due date and nothing but clothes and some diapers for her. I feel so unprepared. I dont even think we have enough clothes for her in small sizes but I plan on going through them it the next few days to make sure. The people upstairs from us brought us down a bouncer and a floor play thing yesterday :D I love them they have given us so much stuff. They are also bringing us down there bassinet when she gets it back from her sister in law. I have another shower on Oct. 4...this coming Saturday and hope we get other essentials like the travel system since we dont have a car seat and cant bring her home without one.

I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon with my OB and I may have another update from that.

26 weeks

Less that 14 weeks left. Holy cow its coming fast. 90 some odd days.

Had an appointment yesterday and all is well. He said that shes 2 to 2 1/2 pounds and growing fine. Heartbeat is great. We also scheduled my lovely glucose test for next time. EWW. Not excited my little fruit punch drink sits in the fridge and lurks until the second of september.

Energy is up slightly but I wish I had more. On my days off I tend to just sleep off and on all day instead of doing things around the house. I started cleaning slightly today. I had a sudden urge to clean our junk up. I made a dent in the mail ads and junk mail that had been laying around the house for months.

Jason got to feel Emory move on Saturday the 26th of July. She kicked the crap out of him. She knows when its daddy's hand since when its him she starts moving like crazy when its my hand she stops moving. I find it funny since I haven't felt her move on the outside yet and he has.

thats my update for now.

Unsolicited advice

I love how people that haven't gone through pregnancy and the birthing process give advice.
You should exercise more
Take the vitamins even if they make you sicker than a dog
You're not going to make it through labor if can't stand it now because you dont do anything.
Buy such and such lotion it helps with your stretchmarks

All this stuff really gets under my skin...exercise is the last on my mind as it takes all my might to get out of bed and then my sciatica nerve acts up and sends shooing pain down my left leg to the point of tears and getting stuck in whatever position. Its bad enough that I was prescribed Physical Therapy and the prenatal lady is out on medical leave so I dont know when I'll get to see her.

Taking vitamins that I asked my OB about not taking them and he said that they were most beneficial for the first 4to 8 weeks. I took them religiously til about 13 weeks when they made me throw up 15 min. after taking them. Once I have an experience like that I refused to take them. My dr said it was fine and if I throw them up 15 min after taking them exactly how are they helping the baby?? You're not a doctor so shut your face!!! The baby is stealing all my calcium and giving me Osteoporsis. BAHAHA!! Glad you read your health book.

Im not going to make it through labor because I dont do anything now but sit around and sleep. Labor is completely different. Then I wont even have a choice to sit around will I?? HA dont think so. What really makes me mad about this is the person who told me this has never had a child are been around a pregnant lady really. So her unsolicited advice gets under my skin the most! All sparked from a conversation about me getting more hours at work this week than normal and I said its good because I really dont want to get another job with how I feel and how exhausted I get from doing even the tiniest things. I'll just wait til she ends up pregnant and doesn't even like the dad and complains about everything like she normally does. When shes getting ligament pains and whines. I think I'll just laugh. They nearly put me in tears and are rather scary. Throwing up everything you just mmm how pleasant again I think I'll laugh. I know its rude but seriously why say those things to me when you haven't gone through it.

Stretchmark creams. HA what a bunch of bologna!! I already have them from gaining weight. Nothing prevents them. They are genetic. No amount of cream will help these puppies! With the itching yes but with stopping me from getting more nope. Its just not in the plan...They are my lovely marks and will be there til the end.

On to good news
I feel our little girl moving around more and more. Its all on my left side but its so comforting to know that shes there. Today she hasn't stopped moving. Shes in there doing jigs I swear LOL!

I think I live on the sun

It is starting to get hot now. Holy cow I may melt!!! The past few days have been horrid for me to go outside unless the sun has been down for at least an hour. Friday I had a funeral to go to. A Jobie adult passed away after an eight year battle with Desmoid Tumors, I dont know what to call her....she was an adult, 25, but she was also very active in her jobie life before she turned 20...anyway she passed away last monday, June 9, in her sleep. She was what I like to call a true hero. I could have never lasted through everything she went through especially for 8 years. Friday was more of a celebration of her life, she was given 2 extra years by her surgeon. There was standing room only in the funeral room we were in that was rather big. Us Jobies sang "nearer my god to thee" and that was tough. I had not cried until we started singing it. I didn't cry a ton as she's not in anymore pain, not sick and eating all she can and wants to up in heaven. After the funeral was the graveside service where we released nearly 40 purple and white balloons in her honor. I got sunburned in the half hour we were out there and was sweaty. UGH. My dad's car has air that doesn't work well and leather seats...nota great combo. I was so hot when I go to work that night.

When I'm out and about during the day in that car my cheeks are bright red, I'm sweaty and miserable but I can't walk everywhere. Sometimes I think it will be cooler if I were to walk. Having the windows down makes hardly a difference. Today I had to drive downtown to drop something off in the hottest part of the day then I drove to Jason's work to take movies he forgot at home and asked to take his car with air to go get my hair cut. Oh it was nice for the hour I had the car...then back in the sauna for the ten minute drive home. I got home and stripped to my undies and bra...the only way to cool down I swear. The air is on in the apartment yet I'm still hot and nearly naked. HAHA. its going to be a long summer yet it has just started!

Well I'm off to get some ice water and lay down...the heat wears me out.

Its a....

GIRL!!!!!
As of now anyway.
I was supposed to have my appointment on the 4th but my Dr. was in delivery so I had to reschedule. It was annoying since Its abouta half hour drive from our house and we get there I check in sit down the the receptionist calls me back up there and is like "I forgot to tell you he's in delivery so we have to reschedule...I was like oh sweet. Anyway...So I went yesterday and did the normal check up stuff. Talked about my back pain thats on my left side mainly in my bum and shoots down my left leg and the dr. prescribed physical therapy for it. I hope it helps. That means that I can now go look for a second job as I was waiting til I had asked about my back pain. We also discussed the horrid migraines I've been getting that last for hours and hours. Longest has been 2 days. ICK! He said that he could prescribe narcotics but they aren't the best way to go since they slow the baby too. He then was telling me about a new medicine that just came out thats safe to take. I said I'd stick it out and see how they are til next month as I dont want to take unneeded drugs. If I can't handle them then I'll try some meds for them. Then he said I was borderline for seeing the anatomy but wanted to check anyway, if there wasn't anyone in there. There wasn't so we got to see!!! The baby is measuring a little same....3 days behind so that would put my due date for November 10th not the 7th..but really what does 3 days matter when its all estimated anyway. He looked at the anatomy and didn't see anything hanging so its a girl for now. LOL I have this huge fear that we'll plan on a girl and she'll pop out a boy and I'll be so disappointed when I know a healthy baby is what is really wanted. As of now no more ultrasounds since he saw what he wanted to see.
Last night we went to Babies R Us and started the registry. I was so stoked to start it. It took nearly 2 hours and I feel like theres nothing on it. Good thing we can update it online and anytime in the store. I was in such a zone that I didn't hear any of the announcements of when the store was closing until I heard the "we'll be closing in 5 minutes" one I looked at Jason and said WHAT?? Seriously?? He was like yup I've been trying to tell you. I hadn't heard any of it. HAHA. They were very sweet and didn't care that we were the last ones in the store. Thank goodness.
BTW Her name will be Emory Rae...In memory of my mom. Not being named after my mom but in memory since Emory was a name she picked and Rae was her middle name and the 2 sound so pretty together :D

this month

I hadn't realized it had been so long since I had updated my blog. Its been a slightly busy month.
I had my OB appointment on the 7th. It went well. We heard the heartbeat for the first time and it was truly amazing. :D

We went to Vegas for Jason's sisters wedding to her partner the 8-12. It was fun. We didn't do anything Vegasy. I wanted to eat at a buffet and when we went to go it was closed. We went on mother's day at about 8:15 pm and it closed at 8. I wasn't aware restraunts in casinos closed that early. I was upset because they were supposed to have crab legs. :( We were also going to go to the M&M Store that night but once we ate and by the time we got over there it would have been close to closing time so we didn't. The wedding was on that Saturday and was beautiful it was lake side. The food at the reception was amazing:D and the reception was really fun a complete celebration. I also met most of Jason's family that weekend and they are insane!! LOL. I always wondered where he got it and apparently its just genetic LOL. We went to this italian restaurant for the rehearsal dinner and took up most of the restaurant with everyone. His 6 brothers and sister plus their families and then a few friends. All together there was like 26 of us. It was fun though and there was good food there too. I am obsessed with food if you can't tell. We came home that monday and got home at about 11:30 pm.

I got sick the day after we got back with some 24 hour flu like bug, I thought it was late onset of morning sickness but thank goodness it wasn't. It lasted exactly 24 hrs. So tuesday to wednesday night I was feeling horrible. I was slightly better thursday just had no energy then Friday I was fine but it was a warm day and I hadn't been drinking enough so I was dehydrated from not keeping anything down those 24 hrs. So I nearly passed out when I went to see Jason at his work before I went to work. My vision went completely blurry and my ears started ringing really bad. I just sat down on the floor right in the doorway where I was standing before I fell down. Thank goodness he was getting off so we went to the Emergency Room to get checked because we were both scared out of our minds. They monitored my blood pressure while lying, standing and sitting and the checked the babies heartbeat. Everything was fine. They just told me to drink lots of water and gatorade to get rehydrated and take it easy the rest of the night. It was no work for me. We called my work on the way to the hospital to let them know I wasn't coming in. We were done at the ER at about 6:45 I could have gone in but was afraid of standing for too long and passing out for real. So we just went to dinner at Sweet Tomatoes since I hadn't eaten in hours and that wasn't helping the situation and then went home to rest. I felt tons better the next day.

Saturday of last weekend, my friend Sam got married. Her ceremony was like 5 min long and the reception wasnt as much of a celebration as the weekend before it was a quiet open house type very nice though. Then that night it was Last Night Meeting for Jobies. I went and sat in the hallway for nearly 2 hours as I am not allowed in meetings until I turn 20 I didn't know where I was supposed to be so I sat in the hallway by myself. the meeting was over at about 9:30 and I went in and they did tribute. It was amazing as usual and Liz's quilt is way cute even though my last name is spelled wrong on it. She loved it.

This week has been mostly slow. I bought my first maternity clothes tuesday. A pair of jeans, a pair of khakis and 2 tee shirts. The prices weren't bad either it was 65ish for all of it. I love my new pants they are so comfy and fit unlike my other pants that were too tight.

thats all my updates for now.
My next appointment is the 4th. No Ultrasound then :( but they are going to schedule it for when I'm 20 weeks so I hope I can get it as soon to 20 weeks as possible. I want to know what I'm having already. Im jealous of the women already finding out. Im addicted to the message board site called Baby Gaga and all the november mommies are starting to find out and they are due after me. UGH. My time will come I know Im just impatient.

Nocturnal

Suddenly I have not been able to sleep at night. Its is currently 2:50 am and Im still wide awake. Then I am tired all day after sleeping til noon or longer. Today or I guess it would be yesterday I woke up at noon and then took a 2 hour nap from 2 to 4. Ugh. ITs frustrating. I guess getting over my lazy streak is going to be harder than I thought. The internet has a big thing to do with that as well. I found a website that has pregnancy forums and have spent the past several hours on them reading pointless crap and people who are just down right rude to eachother. I guess thats what happens when you get a bunch of hormonal pregnant people in a message board.
I also no longer want to sleep in our bed. I prefer the couch yet its not nearly as comfortable and I wake up quite frequently. I just dont know what it is. I have this weird aversion to the bed. It may be that I dont want Jason touching me when Im sleeping or hardly at all when Im awake. I just dont want to be all hugged all over and such. Its frustrating him and I feel bad but I dont know why its this way but it is.

I got my medicaid cards. Whoot. One less thing to worry about now. Im really glad I got them so fast since they said it can take up to 30 days to process but it took 2 days after I got them all the verifications they needed. On the pregnancy forums I had read about many girls having to wait months to be approved so I was a little worried that would happen and with my next appointment being on the 7th of May I was really worried since I will have no insurance after the 30 of the this month. But everything worked out and Im so glad it did. :D

Well I think Im going to retire to my lovely couch now with my naughty cat and try to sleep.

Emotional

The past few days I've been tired and not feeling the greatest. I have wanted nothing but to just lay around and rest. Then it takes all my might to get up off the couch and get ready for work, the whole 2 shifts I had this week. In the past 2 months I haven't done a whole lot around the house since I've been so exhausted but now I just feel lazy and I know Jason hates it. He is working a ton and going to school full time and I can't even manage to get the laundry done, do dishes or clean the house. On to the dishes...it makes me sick to do them...with this new heightened sense of smell I have they are quite stinky. The laundry...it seems like every time I get the urge to do it something goes wrong. Our apartment has issues and something is broken between upstairs and downstairs and it leaks in the kitchen downstairs and alas we are stuck in the middle. But while this leaking goes on. We can't run the water in the kitchen or do laundry. Which happened today right when we were going to start both! Ugh great timing. It happens about every week and a half it seems like. I wish they would fix it because its rather annoying but they can't seem to find where the leak is coming from exactly.

I had an awful migraine on monday and tuesday and i was completely miserable. Jason went and bought Tylenol on his way home from work on monday night not even a half hour after taking it I was in the bathroom losing my dinner. Then I went to bed and woke up tuesday and it was even worse. We called the doctor, jason called since it hurt my head to hear people talk through the phone, the nurse took the message and said he'd call back when he was done with his current patient. I was thinking okay we'll hear back  within a half hour. An hour goes by and nothing so Jason calls back to get an update of when exactly he's going to call then an hour after that the doctor called. He was a lifesaver and said I could take excedrin for migraines. thank goodness something that might work. He also said to drink plenty of fluids. So I spent the rest of my day downing water and resting. It went away within an hour of taking the excedrin and my appetite was back. Every time I get a migraine my appetite completely disappears and i get nauseas. I was glad that I was finally able to eat because I wanted to not because I had to.

Now onto the emotional part. I am now crying at the drop of a hat, well it seems like it anyway. On wednesday I went to turn in my verifications for state insurance and they were so rude that I went to visit Jason at work and broke down in the middle of the store. Then today I got a letter saying I was denied because I hadn't completed the process of the application....When thats what I went and did wednesday. The letter was mailed yesterday. I cried for nearly a half hour about it. Of course they are closed until monday I can't see if the letter was really just an automatic letter or if I'm really denied. Ugh....rather frustrating
Also another frustrating thing is work cut my hours when I had asked for more hours because I need them. I had 11 hours this week....was supposed to anyway and on monday my manager called and cut  4 hours from my schedule this week and this next week I have one shift thats 4 hours and thats it. So much for getting hours. Job searching is so frustrating right now being 11 weeks pregnant and I don't know how exactly to tell people that Im pregnant and people don't really want to hire you knowing that in 6 months you wont be able to work for at least 6 weeks and you may not come back at all.  Also with the way I've been feeling I don't want to work full time since I get worn out so easily lately. Ive applied at multiple banks back in february and have had 3 interviews denied for 2 of them. I'm getting to the point of giving up. Applying at like 10 to 15 banks and getting emails back saying that I don't meet the qualifications when I meet all of the qualifications online is really frustrating and makes you lose faith. This week I'm going to try to kick this lazy streak and get our apartment clean and also job search.

Thats  the update for now.

2nd OB visit

The past few weeks have been a little weird. I've been feeling really bad, no vomiting but nausea and just not feeling well. Sleeping a ton. But this week everything has changed. Im not sleeping 12 hours a night and taking 2 hour naps during the day. the past 2 days I've only been able to nap for 30 min.

Today I went to my 2nd visit with the OB/GYN. I had an ultrasound and saw our little one. It was moving all around especially its arm and it looked like it was waving at me. LOL. It totally changed my life, it really didn't hit me that I was truly pregnant until today in that Ultrasound room when I saw the little "bean" growing inside me. Possibly the most amazing thing. Due date is confirmed to 11/7/08 :D

Thats all for now.

Today's a complete new day

So far today in the 5 hours I have been awake has been quite eventful.
Have had the worst headache. I am prone to migraines but haven't had one is quite a long time. I can't remember the last time I had one actually. So today has been rough as I cannot take excedrin migraine like I normally do. I've been trying to choke down water hoping that it will help.

I've also had my first bout of vomiting. How fantastic. I don't know if it was due to the pregnancy or the headache as I have been feeling great until today. It was quite the experience that I haven't had since I was a little kid. A few gross details. Didn't make it quite to the toilet. Spent 15 min cleaning it up. Jason tried to help but is very queasy and I took over as I had made the mess. He was also 20 min late to work because of it. Kudos to him for helping though as I stood there in tears over what I had done just like when I was little, crying for no reason.

Ugh! I hope this isn't a sign of whats to come.....

headache isn't so bad anymore  but is still lingering....

exhausted

I have been so unbelievably tired the past few days.
I sleep between 8 and 12 hours a night, then take about 2 or 3 naps during the day that are anywhere from 2 to 4 hours long. Waking up to use the bathroom, get a drink and eat.

Yesterday we ventured to the grocery store since we were in desperate need of food.  We were there for probably an hour to an hour and half. I didn't push the cart much since I wasn't feeling the greatest and I still felt like I had pushed it 4 miles. I was completely exhausted about 3/4 of the way through the store. We came home. Unloaded the car. I unloaded the majority of the groceries, all the things that required the fridge and freezer. I left the rest to be put away later. Then went and took one of my 3 to 4 hour long naps. Woke up and still felt exhausted. Im trying to sleep all day long since there's still things to get done, laundry, cleaning, etc.

Oh my an OB/GYN

Had my first appointment today and was nervous since I have been in an OB/GYN office once and it wasn't for a pap smear or anything of that nature. So today I go and he gave me a pelvic exam and pap smear the part I was completely dreading. It wasn't that bad but very uncomfortable showing my stuff to the world LOL. I was worried about having a male doctor since he doesn't have the same parts lol and I wasn't able to get into a female doctor that took my insurance so I settled and good thing I did cuz the doctor was super nice and made me feel completely comfortable and confident in what he was doing. Whoo big relief there.

He gave me some sample and a prescription for my vitamins a diaper bag full of magazines and the book "What to expect when you're expecting" and I was on my way.

We are about 5 weeks along so there was no ultrasound today but next time there will be. I go back April 7th.

I have been getting more nauseas and I've noticed its when I don't eat for a while then eat and feel yucky so I'm trying to work on that. I also bought preggie pops that my sister suggested and we'll see how they work.

That's all for now.

Bleck

Nausea is starting to set in. Worst feeling in the world.

I didn't start noticing it until I ate lunch at work then didn't feel so great after. Then I ate dinner tonight about 3 hours ago and still don't feel that great. Bleck!

I've been trying to drink more and more water as I am not a water drinker its quite tough but Im starting to crave it and also Propel. which I guess is fantastic since its healthier than soda. :D

My sister informed me that I am having a girl and weird thing is she is usually right with her guesses. She also sent me a link of what I should do the nursery as, a very cute pink, brown and white theme. Which is great since I love those colors but the room would be awfully expensive. We'll see what happens though :D
Other than that nothing really new. I haven't informed anybody else as of yet but the right time will come to tell them. I cannot wait to go to the doctor on Wednesday though.

Off to beddy bye. Finally.

Shock of my life

Obviously by the name of this blog you can figure out what's going on. However there's more to it than that.

Living in Utah you are around pregnant people quite frequently, in the state of young families. I never thought I'd be where I am today. Not the typical "young family" as we are not married as of yet. The boyfriend and I have been together over 2 years and lived together for a year and a half. Now that you know a tidbit about our situation in a city of Temple weddings, young families and a ton of children.

Now into the shock of our lives.
After being a week late and not feeling quite right I decided to do a home pregnancy test. Within minutes it came back and said "pregnant". That explained why I had been feeling so weird so I got on line and started researching and a website had 5 early signs of pregnancy, low and behold I had 3 of the 5. I left it at that and went to bed. Tuesday I came home from work and took the other test from my box of two and again within minutes it came back positive. I became really nervous because I am 19 and have so much more life left to live and didn't ever think this would happen so early. Later that afternoon I told my loving big sister and was nervous of what she would say. Don't know why as she was also young when she had her first. She gave me tons of advice and told me exactly what to do. I'm glad she's there even though she may be 800 miles away in Arizona her support is amazing. Onto Wednesday, we went to a free pregnancy clinic and I got tested once again by the time I had put the lovely cup in the box on the wall and washed my hands the test had come back positive. The cute nurse was so nice and calm, she gave me info on state insurance and applying for WIC. When we got home, I got online emailed the new aunt to be and did more research, took a nap and went to my other job.

Today has been kind of quiet. I called probably 10 doctors today to schedule an appointment to get everything confirmed and half the doctors on my referral list don't take state insurance...well why are their names on the referral list then. One couldn't get me in til the 23rd of April I wanted to laugh at the lady when she told me that. I was like I just told you I'm pregnant and you offer that day. HELLO I need in ASAP! The earliest I could get in anywhere is next wednesday. So I will need to take half the day off of work for this appointment but I took what I could get. At the start of my calling I was adament I wanted a female doctor but the female doctors didn't take the state insurance or their appointments were clear at the end of the month. So I settled on a male doctor and hope that I like him.

The biggest obstacle now is telling everyone. People at my fulltime job know and are so supportive and happy after knowing them for only a few weeks. Other job doesn't know yet. A few friends know and I have been shocked by the response. The first question has been are you gonna keep it? Honestly, it really hurt my feelings, I am a firm believer in living with your mistakes and abortion is NEVER an option. I could consider adoption but at this point I want to start a family. I was in control of my actions and now I will live with this blessing of a baby. I was offered a job to work from home and could not believe what she was telling me...I am fully capable of finding a job and by the way have one. I don't to be a telemarketer from home, not my forte. The plan as of now is that I will not be working after I deliver, my dream is to be a stay at home mom but as we all know things can change. When speaking to one of my "friends" she asked how I was gonna manage to stay home. Well childcare is 150 to 200 a week for an infant. Well that's nearly all my paycheck. So if we can manage I will stay at home. Not all the friends were shocking a few are being supportive and excited. Being a member of a girl's organization I have a lot of support. They don't know yet and when I do tell them I will give up my position and my membership. I will become a "has been" as we call them, the older girls that we love but they are too old to hold an office. One of the girls knows and one of the supportive. :D I have yet to tell my father, as he will probably freak out. Somedays he's awesome other days he's not. But either way I will need to tell him and live with what he has to say.

I believe the hardest part of this pregnancy will be not having my mother and my sister being 800 miles away.

This blog will be to post my new updates, symptoms and all the excitement in between.

As of now I've been completely exhausted, hungry all day, and having to use the restroom quite frequently. LOL :D
