6 month check up

Oh boy. I knew Emory was on the small side but today we found out just how small.
She's 25 in long which is 50th percentile...where shes been her whole life. 13 pounds 9 ounces dropped to 40th percentile from 50th and means she had only gained a pound and some ounces in 2 months! 15.9 in for her head circumference which is 25 percentile. I can't remember where that one was at her 4 month check up.

Her doctor didn't hear her heart murmer which is fantastic and we haven't heard it since 3 days old. WHOO HOO!!!

We are to make sure to give her 4 tbls of cereal through out the day and some foods. I was just nursing on demand and most days she'd get formula no more than 12 oz a day and giving her food on days she didn't seem satisfied and when it was convienient which is somewhat selfish of me but food isn't totally necessary from what I've read they get everything from breastmilk or formula and when she got it she'd get half a jar of 1st foods and 2 tbls of food. So far shes had peas, squash, bananas and sweet potatoes. Oh and rice cereal. She had sliced apples the other day and LOVES them. She wasn't so fond of a squishy banana in her hand but loves them out of a jar. We also got her a sippy cup today and started introducing it with water in it. She just chews on it now but Im sure she'll figure it out soon.

Her doctor said to read to her 5 minutes a day and if we did she'd be ahead in reading by the third grade. I thought that was neat fact and she loves books, mostly to eat them but hey that's a start.

She hated her shots, she cried, I cried :( The worst cry you'll ever hear is when a baby gets shots.

Emory also had her first trip to the aquarium the other day and loved looking at the fish. She'd follow them and get confused when she couldn't see them anymore and why she couldn't touch them. SO CUTE!

We also made a trip to the Planetarium and she got to visit the moon and mars! I'll figure out how to post pics and will add some.

Last week we went for a follow up on her eyes. Doing good there as well. They don't move in as big of a motion but are more rapid with the shaking so we go back in 6 months to check them again. The doctor didn't seem so sure she'd grow out of it now but there's still time for that I think and its not slowing her down at all.
