Obviously by the name of this blog you can figure out what's going on. However there's more to it than that.
Living in Utah you are around pregnant people quite frequently, in the state of young families. I never thought I'd be where I am today. Not the typical "young family" as we are not married as of yet. The boyfriend and I have been together over 2 years and lived together for a year and a half. Now that you know a tidbit about our situation in a city of Temple weddings, young families and a ton of children.
Now into the shock of our lives.
After being a week late and not feeling quite right I decided to do a home pregnancy test. Within minutes it came back and said "pregnant". That explained why I had been feeling so weird so I got on line and started researching and a website had 5 early signs of pregnancy, low and behold I had 3 of the 5. I left it at that and went to bed. Tuesday I came home from work and took the other test from my box of two and again within minutes it came back positive. I became really nervous because I am 19 and have so much more life left to live and didn't ever think this would happen so early. Later that afternoon I told my loving big sister and was nervous of what she would say. Don't know why as she was also young when she had her first. She gave me tons of advice and told me exactly what to do. I'm glad she's there even though she may be 800 miles away in Arizona her support is amazing. Onto Wednesday, we went to a free pregnancy clinic and I got tested once again by the time I had put the lovely cup in the box on the wall and washed my hands the test had come back positive. The cute nurse was so nice and calm, she gave me info on state insurance and applying for WIC. When we got home, I got online emailed the new aunt to be and did more research, took a nap and went to my other job.
Today has been kind of quiet. I called probably 10 doctors today to schedule an appointment to get everything confirmed and half the doctors on my referral list don't take state insurance...well why are their names on the referral list then. One couldn't get me in til the 23rd of April I wanted to laugh at the lady when she told me that. I was like I just told you I'm pregnant and you offer that day. HELLO I need in ASAP! The earliest I could get in anywhere is next wednesday. So I will need to take half the day off of work for this appointment but I took what I could get. At the start of my calling I was adament I wanted a female doctor but the female doctors didn't take the state insurance or their appointments were clear at the end of the month. So I settled on a male doctor and hope that I like him.
The biggest obstacle now is telling everyone. People at my fulltime job know and are so supportive and happy after knowing them for only a few weeks. Other job doesn't know yet. A few friends know and I have been shocked by the response. The first question has been are you gonna keep it? Honestly, it really hurt my feelings, I am a firm believer in living with your mistakes and abortion is NEVER an option. I could consider adoption but at this point I want to start a family. I was in control of my actions and now I will live with this blessing of a baby. I was offered a job to work from home and could not believe what she was telling me...I am fully capable of finding a job and by the way have one. I don't to be a telemarketer from home, not my forte. The plan as of now is that I will not be working after I deliver, my dream is to be a stay at home mom but as we all know things can change. When speaking to one of my "friends" she asked how I was gonna manage to stay home. Well childcare is 150 to 200 a week for an infant. Well that's nearly all my paycheck. So if we can manage I will stay at home. Not all the friends were shocking a few are being supportive and excited. Being a member of a girl's organization I have a lot of support. They don't know yet and when I do tell them I will give up my position and my membership. I will become a "has been" as we call them, the older girls that we love but they are too old to hold an office. One of the girls knows and one of the supportive. :D I have yet to tell my father, as he will probably freak out. Somedays he's awesome other days he's not. But either way I will need to tell him and live with what he has to say.
I believe the hardest part of this pregnancy will be not having my mother and my sister being 800 miles away.
This blog will be to post my new updates, symptoms and all the excitement in between.
As of now I've been completely exhausted, hungry all day, and having to use the restroom quite frequently. LOL :D
