Help me

Today has been aggravating. Emory has discovered if she hits me she gets a reaction. I say "OW!" and she laughs hysterically while I'm on the verge of tears.

This morning we were goofing around on our bed and *smack* right on my eye. She laughs. A minute later *smack* the other eye. She did it two more times. We scolded her each time and made her rub my face and said "you need to be nice, this is how you be nice."

Later into the afternoon I was sitting on the floor in front of the couch and she was sitting on the couch. She likes to play with my hair and I was letting her until she started pulling as hard as she could on it to make my head move back and for me to say "ow!" and told her no. She stopped for about a minute then started pulling my hair and kicking me in the back of the head while cracking up. I again told her no and moved her away. She came back and did it again and it hurt so bad I couldn't move to get her right away. She laughed and laughed. I was nearly in tears and wanted to scream every curse word known to man. I finally turned around told her No kicking, be nice and moved her back. She came and did it again and this time I pulled her off the couch told her no and she threw herself on the floor in a fit. When she was done she came back and tried to slap me in the face.

Then to save my sanity my lovely neighbors invited me up for Emory to play with their 2 year old. Which was mostly good but Emory got rough and would hit Aimee for no reason. She'd hit their 10 year old Abby. I would again tell her no, try to have her make eye contact with me (which only frustrates her more) and show her to be gentle or nice. I then put her in time out once up there. NONE of this is working!

I'm not understanding this behavior. I don't know where she learned it from. We're not rough and tumble. She does get her hand slapped if she's not supposed to be touching something and has been told 3 times not to then we tap her hand, that seems to work but I guess I need to re-evaluate that method of discipline. I'm stuck I don't know what to do but I can't take it anymore. Had I not gone upstairs today I don't know how this night would have played out. Jason was at work and I was alone to deal with this. My patience was thin and this process was exhausting.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

So many thoughts, so little time.

The title says it all and the time I'm posting this, 1:45 AM.

My life is overwhelming. I've been trying to write a post for three weeks and only have a few minutes here and there to add to it and now its a jumbled mess of words which has some inkling (is that even the right word? eh oh well) to how my life is lately. I have school, 11-12 credit hours this semester, working 20+ hours a week, being an advisor for Job's Daughters, taking kids to school(most days jason does this and lets me sleep a bit longer. He's so sweet) , picking them up from school, parent meetings at the preschool, early intervention at least once a week, some weeks they overlap and we have it twice, and I have a very high maintenance toddler who needs my attention 95% of the time. Are you tired just reading that? I'm tired typing it all out, seeing it in black and white is nuts. No wonder I feel stretched too thin and hate that I can't be in 4 places at once because sometimes I really feel like I need to be.

Need to be? Okay, well maybe not need to but I feel I should be in all these places. I feel like I should be at home with Emory but I need to be at work so we can have a place to live and food on our table. I need to be doing schoolwork so I can get a degree and make more money so we can have everything we ever wanted, which honestly I'm pretty happy with what I have now and only want help for Emory and my life to calm down a tiny bit but to do that I'm going to have to cut down on something and I'm just not willing to do that just yet. Everything right now is kind of on a have to basis. Meh, I'll find a happy medium somewhere, someday and for now I'll keep trudging along.

This weekend Jason and I FINALLY have a day off together and guess what we're doing?? Cleaning the junk out of Emory's room and making it her very own. Her crib is getting converted to the toddler bed stage, I even bought her the cutest bed set at Target the other day. I'm so excited for her to have a big girl bed set. Her crib never had a bed set just sheets and random blankets and that works but I want her room to look like a little girls room. I want it to look finished and not just like we shoved her crib in a storage area which is how it looks now but come Sunday night it will be the complete opposite of what it is now. I even bought wooden letters to spell out her name, I'm going to pain them to match the colors in her bed set.

I'm scared that once we convert her crib she wont sleep in it anymore because she can climb out whenever she wants to but thank heavens for baby gates she'll only be able to go so far. She seems to be ready for this since she grabs her blankies when she's tired and lays down anywhere she thinks that might be a comfy place to rest her little worn out head and we're hoping that she'll wander in to her room and rest her head on her pillow in her big girl bed. I'm sad that my baby isn't such a baby anymore :( In less than 2 months she'll be 2. Where in the heck did the last 22 months go?! If only I could relive them and enjoy them a little bit longer, if only. Now I must prepare myself for many more adventures in the coming years.
