I had no idea I hadn't updated this in nearly 4 months. Not that anyone reads this that I know of but I like to to look back on my blog to see where we were at and how far we have come.
So here we go. The end of March my grandmother and only living grandparent I had passed away. I was not close with her at all and it makes me sad but things happened in my life that unfortunately made it that way and I guess I made the decision to keep her out of my life. Well she wasn't out of my life, I thought of her often and still do. I suppose my dad made me feel like I couldn't contact her or if I did all hell would break loose. Whatever, why I let these things bother me when I cannot change them I'll never know. Anyway thats that. Her passing let me start our trip to Phoenix a bit early. We went down March 30th-ish LOL We stayed the first night in Vegas so Emory could stretch. Jason and I got our first gambling experience. We put Emory in the little daycare thing.. HAHA We won back everything we had put in..a whopping $40 and won $12 more. So after paying for Em to be in the place for an hour we came out ahead $4 :) AWESOME. The next day we were on to Phoenix and I was so excited.
We got there late Monday night and were greeted by super excited neices and nephews that I love so very much :)Matt and his Wife Shyanne came to say hello and meet their niece for the first time. (and I must say it's still weird that my big brother is married lol) We stayed with Christian and her boyfriend Josh. Tuesday we took a trip to Arizona mills with them and Kelly came along too. We had lunch at 5 and diner MMM how I missed that place. Then walked the mall. We went back to Kelly's to hang out for a bit and relax. Wednesday we just hung out at Kelly's while Emory played with her cousins that absolutely adore her. Jason dubbed Emory and Emily the M&M's and Emily was thrilled There was also family dinner that night and Matt and Shyanne joined us. Thursday we unfortunately had to leave town because I had to work on friday night. Thursday we stayed in Vegas again at Janiel's house and Emory was terrfied of Max who just wanted to love on her but his bark scared the living daylights out her. We ended up staying friday night as well. Jason and I went out gambling again and lost everything :( Guess thats the chance you take right?! Saturday we were headed home and I was very sad to see Salt Lake since we were still supposed to be in Phoenix but I couldn't get work off.
We spent Easter at home and had an Easter egg hunt with the neighbor's. Aimee and Abby loved finding the eggs, Emory did not. It was a nice Easter spent with friends even though I was upset I didn't get to spend it with my family.
So that was our trip. And I am happy to say that Emory and I will be flying down to AZ in August. I am beyond excited to get to spend 5 days with my family :D
Okay so now jumping ahead. Emory went for her 18 month check up in May. She was 18 lbs 13 oz... she'd gained 3 whole ounces in 3 months! :S Uh-oh. And 29 1/2 inches. So she grew an inch which is fabulous. Her dr has us fill out a questionaire every appointment about her development and how she eats questions like does your child drink whole milk? Eat table foods? ride in a car seat 100% of the time? Will she grab a toy from across the room if you ask? this one is a no. Does your child look you in the eye? not usually. There were a few more but I can't remember them. Her dr comes into the room and is concerned about her weight for the first time and suggests we go see a dietician at Primary Children's and have a few blood tests to check a few things since hasn't gained any weight and has always been on the small side. Then we move onto the concerns of her grabbing toys and such. Her dr says that these are signs of Autism. Which I had wanted ask about anyway. Since if we rewind a little bit...a few weeks before she had a complete meltdown in the store and it reminded me of the meltdowns corey used to have, and Corey, my nephew is Autistic. Back to the dr's office now, I told her that I had I wanted to discuss this anyways because she hates grass, had this meltdown, etc. She then gave us numbers to call to set up evaluations for little miss Em.
And now we are fastly approaching the date of her first evaluation that is with a developmental pediatrician and she'll have a hearing screening as well. This is all on July 8th. On August 16th she goes to see a child psychologist for the next step. I don't know what is going to happen at either of these appointments but I'm hoping we get some answers next thursday. The past week Emory has been a completely different baby though. For over a month she had been a complete nightmare, having meltdowns daily within the first few minutes of being awake and was a nightmare until she went to bed at night. This week she's been happy and actually responds to what we say to her, making me think that these evaluations are useless but I was reminded why we need them last night when we had one meltdown after another over little things and she wouldn't respond to anything we said. July 8th can't get here fast enough.
As for Jason and I, Jason is almost done with school. So close we can taste it and it frightens me a little bit. There are no graphic design jobs out there and I'm worried he'll have a useless degree. We'll cross that bridge when it gets here though. As of now he is set to be done in late August or early September. He just got a promotion at work and is now Assistant Store Manager. Yay! I'm so proud of him.
I got dropped from my program at Eagle Gate for dropping below the rate of progress since I had failed so many times and I had could have switched programs and continued on probation...maybe. I don't know if this would have worked since I was on on probation already and they said they'd get back to me once they looked into my file...they never did. But it worked out for the better, Eagle Gate is really expensive and really rushed. I looked into the community college and found out that my grant money would cover all of my tuition :) Whoo! So I applied, took the placement test, and registered for classes to start summer semester. I started classes the last week of may and I'm really liking it. Summer semester is a bit rushed but nothing like I was trying to deal with before. I feel I'm actually learning unlike I was before. I have experienced my first on campus college class ever and I love it. Its online and on campus but I like going on campus and actually feeling like a student. I am also going to take some intro to education classes and possibly persue going into teaching.
Well looks like that's that for right now :) If you read this thank you!
