It's the simple things

Little things that make being a mom so worth it. We've been dealing with some very aggressive behavior the past couple weeks and I've been at a loss of what to do but we're working through it slowly each day.

Just now I was sitting on the couch reading a magazine and Emory climbed up on the armrest of the couch and proceeded to climb on top of it to sit down where she found a brush that was set up there. I asked her to get down and she told me "no" so I asked again in a firmer tone of voice. I still got a "NO!" So I brought her back down to the couch and expected a meltdown. She got pouty but with brush in hand she scooted over to me and started brushing my hair. When she was scooting closer I thought for sure I was going to be whacked in the head with it but to my surprise she was gentle.

She brushed my hair which is quite the task since I have unruly curly hair. When the brush would get caught in a knot I would say "ow" Emory would turn her head towards mine and say "I sowwy." A few times throughout the brushing she'd tell me that "I pretty." I believe some sort of progress is being made in her aggressive behavior and she's learning to show empathy.
