day 8

A place I've traveled to.

I've been all over the U.S. when I was growing because my dad traveled for work constantly. During school breaks my mom and I would tag along. The trip that sticks out the most is a trip my mom and I took because we wanted to, not as tag alongs. We went to San Francisco in March of 2005. It was a short trip but it was so awesome. My mom and I loved going to historic places and learning all we could while there. The thing on the top of our list was Alcatraz. My mom bought the tickets months in advance because they are always sold out. We spent half a day on Alcatraz soaking in the environment and going into every area we could. It's an experience I will never forget. We also checked out the stinky seals off the pier, had sandwiches on sourdough bread, walked into all the cool shops on Fisherman's Wharf, saw the weird living statue people all over, looked at Lombard street and Ghiradelli square. We were only there for 2 days but it was fantastic. Someday I'll go back and experience San Francisco as an adult and make a trip over to see the Golden Gate bridge since all we saw of it was from the fairy over to Alcatraz.

My mom and dad used to live in the bay area and we drove to Modesto for my mom to show me the house they used to live in and the cute neighborhood it was in. We finished the trip by driving up to see my Grandma in Sacramento and spent a few days with her.

I will never forget this trip. It was somewhere my mom always wanted me to experience I'm so happy she was able to take me.
Pictures are from Google Images, not ones we took while on the trip.

I'll go with you and show you how it's done ;o) Whenever we go to San Francisco, I always have to visit Pier 39.
